My Moments of 2014

Merry Christmas, Everyone!
Are you having the time of your life? 😊 How did you celebrate the birth of our Lord? I hope all is well with you and your loved ones.

It’s been a while since I last blogged, so I thought I’d make up for it by sharing my best memories for each month of 2014. Let’s take a look back at a truly unforgettable year:

JANUARY

I welcomed 2014 at home with my family—no grand celebration, just a warm and simple one. On January 1st, we gathered with the Sarzuela Family, where we played games and exchanged gifts. Later on, my friends and I had our New Year’s celebration at the Raquion residence. 😊

We even planned an outing for Jussel’s birthday, but we had to cancel it due to a sad event—a friend’s mother passed away. We chose to be there for him instead. Brotherhood always comes first.

FEBRUARY

The month of love! I didn’t have a special someone to celebrate with, but my friends and my SRA family filled my heart with joy. I received small gifts and sweet gestures. That day, I truly felt loved.

MARCH

We pulled off a surprise birthday celebration for Carl and had so many laughs! 😂
We also traveled to Naga for the Extra-RICE (Regional Innovative Conference on Education). We stayed at Eurotel and enjoyed the 3-day seminar. We even joined a coastal cleanup activity—an experience that was both educational and meaningful.

This month was extra special as my youngest sister graduated from high school. 👩‍🎓

APRIL

The Nuñez clan had an outing to celebrate Daddy's birthday—though Mommy and Daddy didn’t join us. We went to Bagong Abre, grilled pork and hotdogs, lay on the grass, and took tons of selfies while sharing stories. It was a day full of laughter and bonding.

MAY

This was one of the most challenging months of the year.

  • May 6: Daddy (my grandfather on Papa's side) was rushed to the hospital due to asthma but was discharged a few hours later.

  • May 7: We got a message that Mamalola (my maternal grandmother) was hospitalized due to stomach complications.

  • May 9: Daddy suffered a heart attack. We rushed to the hospital, and I almost broke down on the way. Thankfully, he was saved. I prayed so hard that night.

  • The next day, he suffered three more heart attacks. I was home with my younger brother and cried while praying to God to give him another chance—and He did. 🙏

That month tested my faith, but I felt God’s presence stronger than ever.

JUNE

We went to Baguio for the PICE National Midyear Convention 2014. Though the weather didn’t cooperate, the memories we made and the bond we formed made it worth it. I actually posted a separate blog about this Baguio adventure—check it out!

JULY

My birthday month—but I didn’t really feel like celebrating. Typhoon Glenda hit Albay hard. There was a blackout due to fallen electric posts.

Here's a before-and-after photo of the Bicol University Centennial Tree, cut down by the typhoon.

Before

After

A week after the typhoon, I turned a year older. Fewer people greeted me compared to previous years, but all the special ones did. That was more than enough. 💖

AUGUST

Our Team Building and Acquaintance Party (originally set earlier) was moved to August 5 due to the typhoon. It turned out to be a super fun day for the CE family!

We also spent the whole month preparing for school accreditation. I was part of the student Accre team that helped the professors organize the documents. It was tiring but so worth it—I met new friends and made great memories.

We also facilitated the Ibalong Color Fun Run, which was a blast! 🎨

SEPTEMBER

Intramurals time! The 5th years were away on their tour, so the rest of us (4th year down to 1st) carried the torch. It was a huge challenge—but so fulfilling. Despite the exhaustion, we came out as CHAMPIONS! 🏆

OCTOBER

I joined the Annual Diocesan Marian Youth Pilgrimage to Joroan, something I’ve been participating in since Grade 6. It’s always an inspiring journey—and yes, you’ll only feel the pain once you’re heading home. 😅

I also took part in the Regional Civil Engineering Students Summit in Sorsogon. Another milestone unlocked!

NOVEMBER

I started the month battling dengue. It was tough—but I recovered and carried on. Life doesn’t stop!

We hosted the PICE National Convention here in Legazpi, and all the hard work paid off. We received great feedback. ✅

DECEMBER

December started with heartbreaking news. A very special person in my life—Mamalola—passed away. It was the greatest tragedy I’ve ever faced. We’ve accepted that her suffering is over and that she’s finally resting in peace. I’m just so grateful to have felt her love and care for 20 beautiful years.

Despite the grief, I’m thankful for my friends who made sure I still found reasons to smile during the rest of the month.

We had our Maligayang PICE-Ko Christmas Caravan in Maoyod, Balinad, and Padang. Truly, it’s always a blessing to be a blessing to others. 🎁

To cap off the year, I reunited with my high school friends during the SRA Grand Alumni Homecoming 2015.

On the last day of 2014, I woke up at 5 AM to attend the 6:30 Mass for Mamalola’s 30th day. After Mass, we visited her at the cemetery. Then we went to Mabini where we held games for the kids and had a mini-reunion with family and friends.

Looking Back:
2014 was a year of joy, growth, challenges, heartbreaks, healing, and hope. And despite everything, I’m still standing—grateful, blessed, and looking forward to more memories.

To 2015:
Please be kind. ❤️
